Westfield PAL Wrestling Season 2022-2023
Our programs focus on learning the fundamentals of wrestling, instilling solid values and having fun! PAL sponsors the following programs:
REGISTRATION For the recreation and travel winter season is now closed.
Season begins Tuesday 11/1 for Travel and Mon 11/14 for Novice.

RECREATIONAL and NOVICE PROGRAM:
This program is for the first year, beginner or novice wrestler as well as younger returning novice wrestlers who have not been selected for the travel program by the coaching staff. The REC program serves as the feeder program to our Travel Teams. Wrestlers are taught the basics of the sport with an emphasis on having fun, developing basic skills and safety rather than competition. Practices will be held on Mondays and Thursdays beginning 11/14/22. The season will consist of various "King of the Mat" and instructional novice matches with neighboring towns ending early to mid-February 2023. Registration cost is $195 and includes uniform shorts, shirt, and sweatshirt. Singlets will be provided for the season. Wrestler must provide headgear and wrestling shoes.
TRAVEL TEAMS GRADES 3-6:
The travel team programs provide mid-level to advanced technique and training with the evaluation period beginning on Tuesday 11/1/2022. This program is for our more experienced wrestlers up to 6th grade. The team may also be suitable for select 2nd and 3rd graders who have demonstrated considerable progress at the Recreational Team level and who display the maturity to participate in more serious & structured practices and competitive match situations.
Following the early November evaluation period, the wrestlers will be split into two teams which compete in the Central Jersey Youth Wrestling League. Varsity will practice 3-nights per week on Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm to 7:45 pm including a joint practice with the returning North Jersey team on Saturdays 12pm until early December. Beginning around mid-December, practice will be Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 6pm to 7:45pm. The JV team will practice 2-nights per week on Tuesday and Thurs 6pm to 7:45pm. There are also several competitive team and individual tournaments throughout the season.
Registration cost is $250 and includes uniform shorts, shirt, sweatshirt and sweatpants. Singlets will be provided. Wrestler must provide headgear and wrestling shoes.
MIDDLE SCHOOL PAL TRAVEL TEAM GRADES 6-8:
This program is supplemental for wrestlers in the Westfield Middle School Wrestling Program. The Westfield Middle School Team practices after school Monday through Friday. New or less experienced 6th graders as well as 7th and 8th graders participate on the Westfield Middle School Team. PAL Registration cost is $85 and includes uniform shorts, shirt, sweatshirt and sweatpants. The Westfield Middle School Team wrestlers do not need to sign up for PAL and can sign up for the school team only, and may still purchase uniform shorts, shirt, socks and sweatshirt for $85. But signing up through PAL does make receiving team communications easier. Singlets will be provided. Wrestler must provide headgear and wrestling shoes.
